From one sea

From One Sea is a work that centers the sea as a site of memory. The photographic installation blurs the lines of geography and time, building a poetic narrative around belonging. The work pulls from a personal archive of images in and around the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean that explore water as a meeting place, and a place of possibility. The alignment of horizons and collapsing of distance reimagines the limitations of geographic boundaries into a seemingly endless expanse, unrestricted by physical delineations. As viewers follow the horizon a poem begins to reveal itself, creating a journey and guiding the viewer along.
